Meet Mila Vincent, 4, our new correspondent for Grand Times Kids. Every month, Mila will check out shows with her grandmother, Johannah Luza, and tell you their favorite grandparent/grandchild outings, with a little help from our Theatrically Speaking critic, Nancy Churnin.
In September, Mila and her grandmother went to:
Disney’s Beauty and the Beast at Dallas Children’s Theater.
Mila: I liked Belle because she helped her dad get out of the scary forest. The Teacup lady was very funny because she looked like a real teacup and I liked LeFou because he sang a very funny song. “Be Our Guest” was my favorite song.
(Note from Nancy: Belle was played by Alyssa Cavazos; Mrs. Potts (the Teacup lady) by Debbie Brown and LeFou by Ethan Rodriguez-Mullins.)
Johannah: The characters knew how to keep the kids’ attention and did a great job of it with constant action, singing and laughter. Looking around the audience at all the children, I noticed they were totally immersed in the story. The theme was a good lesson on how much better it is to be kind than rude. The actors running through the theater added excitement. Highly recommend this for an uplifting show for grandparents and their grandchildren!
