It’s Nutcracker season and our intrepid #MilaSays columnist, Mila Vincent, 4, checked out the Nov. 30 matinee of Texas Ballet Theater’s lavish take on the Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky classic, choreographed by Ben Stevenson, with her grandmother, Johannah Luza, by her side.
Here’s their take: Mila: My favorite part about seeing The Nutcracker was getting to meet one of the ballerinas! They dance on their toes and get lifted up in the air. There are even some little ballerinas about my age! The costumes were very pretty too!
Johannah: The Winspear Opera House is such a beautiful venue for any show and it was perfect for The Nutcracker. It’s a show that is a tradition for so many families and the Texas Ballet Theater does a beautiful performance. Getting to meet one of the ballerinas was a real highlight for the kids.
Mila Vincent is our official “kid theatre reviewer.” Her favorite things to do are growing vegetables in her garden with her Dad, give to others on “kind” days with her Mom, swim with her baby sister, review shows with her grandmother Johannah Luza, and wear twirly dresses. Her favorite color is purple.
