Mila Says: Theater for September & October 2021

Mila Vincent, our six-year-old theater critic, is getting back into the theater with her grandmother, Johannah Luza! This issue, she reviews shows about a girl who wants to be president, witches, and a Beauty and a Beast. She thinks your young theater fans will enjoy them!



Grace For President

Book, music and lyrics by Joan Cushing. Adapted from Kelly DiPucchio’s book.

A third-grader named Grace, frustrated there are no women presidents in the U.S., decides to run for president of her school. Joan Cushing’s musical adaptation of Kelly DiPucchio’s popular book finds both the drama and the fun of campaigning while learning what it takes to be the best candidate. Recommended for all ages.

The Witches

Adapted by David Wood from the book by Roald Dahl.

Outcry Youth Theatre presents this adaptation of Roald Dahl’s book about a boy who gets turned into a mouse by a secret society of witches. The boy teams-up with his grandmother and another boy-turned-mouse to outwit the witches. Recommended for ages 5 and up.

Disney’s Beauty and the Beast
