Buy Your Next Home from the Comfort of Your Sofa

In today’s high-tech, high-touch, health-conscious environment, it is possible (maybe even advisable) to buy your next home from the comfort of your sofa! Whether you are looking for a home to fit your multi-generational family or downsizing, this new way of home shopping is becoming popular.

The first step in the home-buying process is meeting your agent to determine your needs, goals, desires, and timeline for your new home. You can do this virtually, through a program like Zoom or Facetime. Together, you will review the real estate market and build a plan of action to find the best property at the best price possible.

Next, your agent will use their expertise to identify properties for your consideration based upon your preferences, opinions, and your dream-home ideas.

Now it’s time to go “look” at your options!

Clients who prefer to see the homes in person use safety protocols, including masks, sanitizers, and signed forms, verifying good health. However, a virtual alternative lets you view and experience the home from the comfort of your living room sofa. Your agent virtually (and personally) walks you through the homes of your choosing.

Once you’ve selected your home, you can sign all required documents on your phone or computer using electronic signature technology during a video/call with your agent to go over the legal jargon. This is especially helpful during the offer and negotiation process.

You’ll next work closely with a reputable inspection company. The inspector will provide a detailed digital report of their findings and a virtual walk-through to highlight the details. You will likely request the seller to make repairs or concessions instead of making the repairs yourself.

When it is time to close, your agent will arrange for a mobile notary to bring the closing documents directly to your doorstep (think legal Grubhub). If paying in cash, you’ll have the option of virtually closing with conference software and electronic signing technology.

After the closing, your agent will deliver keys and garage openers to you, at your new house, and connect you with excellent service professionals you’ll want to know as you make your new home your own.

Welcome to your new home — all from the comfort of your sofa.
