A Pigeon, a Pig, and a Painter: A Mix of Musicals and Beloved Book-Based Shows.

Mila Vincent, our seven-year-old theater critic, and Johanna Luza, Mila’s grandmother and co-reviewer, can’t wait to see the zany Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus! The Musical! at Dallas Children’s Theater and Charlotte’s Web at Casa Manana. They’re also looking forward to Sunday in the Park with George from the Outcry Youth Theater. They think you and your kids will enjoy these shows, too!


Sunday in the Park with George

Music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, book by James Lapine

Inspired by the painting A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte by Georges Seurat, young people perform this classic musical, a complex exploration about the nature of art, love, and life. Recommended for ages 13 and older.

Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus! The Musical!

Adapted by Mo Willems and Mr. Warburton from the book by Mo Willems (published by Hyperion Books for Children), lyrics by Mo Willems, music by Deborah Wicks La Puma

The Pigeon really wants to drive the bus, but everyone keeps telling him to fly off! Will he get his wish? Nancy Schaeffer directs this new musical adaptation of the #1 New York Times bestselling, Caldecott Honor-winning book for Dallas Children’s Theater. Recommended for ages three and older.

Charlotte’s Web

Adapted by Joseph Robinette from the book by E.B. White

A spider sets out to save a pig the only way she knows how: Weaving words in her web. This adaptation of the beloved novel is a joyful, poignant, hopeful story of a friendship that transcends species, life, and time. Recommended for ages three and older.
